I Miss My Amiga 500 (Amiga Day Free Release)

May 31, 2014 in Analog Sheep, Events, Music, News, Releases, Single

InternationalAmigaDay-May31st

I celebrate May 31st, I. International Amiga Day with a free download of my electronic music project Analog Sheep’s Amiga tribute song “I Miss My Amiga 500”.

Free downloads are available on my SoundCloud and Bandcamp pages and open for the whole weekend until Monday June 2nd.

And here is its music video for YouTube users.

So, what is I. International Amiga Day?

Amiga Day is an idea put forward by a Facebook group called Amiga Day. Here is the manifesto of the International Amiga Day published in the group description.

Amiga Day (I. International Amiga Day)

We, Amiga users hereby declare the 31st of May as international day of the Amiga, the Home Computer that made us so much fun, that made us begin a career, that made us think differently about computers and games and made us a lot of friends with Amigas.

Amiga is Forever and We really want that to happen. Please share the idea with your Amigan friends to keep the Amiga flame forever!

How can you participate? It’s easy – On Amiga Day do any of the following Amigan activities:

– You must switch on at least 1 Amiga computer.
– You must run at least 1 Amiga game (emulator is accepted).
– You must „whiten” a yellowed Amiga.
– You must give your non-working Amiga to a technician, who can make a working machine out of the non-working ones. Lather on the reborn working Amiga must be donated.
– In case you are a technician you must make at least one Amiga working from non-working Amigas.
– If you have an Amiga T-Shirt, you must wear it.
– If none of the above you can make a photo of yourself with an Amiga and share it with your friends on any social networks.
– Or whatever Amiga related activity you like…

So, let’s make the first International Amiga Day on Jay Miner’s 82nd birthday a real celebration of the best ever home-computer – The Amiga!

Please Invite your fellow Amigans and SHARE the Amiga feeling to everybody!

See you on 31st of May of 2014, on the first Amiga Day!

Now go and enjoy your Amiga Day full of Amiga activities!

The music video is produced by me. 3D animations and valuable creative and technical support are supplied by Ugur Engin Deniz.

The general composition of the music video consists some of characteristic Amiga elements.
Leading roles:
• Amiga opening screen asking for a floppy
Kickstart1_3-640x480

• Orange Amiga cursor
Amiga-G-DOS-imlec

• Guru Meditation error screen
GuruMeditation01

Suporting roles:
• AmigaDos screen
Amiga-G-DOS

• Workbench screen
Amiga-G-Workbenchb

In addition to those, scrolling text is placed in order to embrace Amiga cracktro culture. Ugur Engin Deniz, a friend of mine that I shared some early drafts, who is also a video artist suggested to place some Amiga-like animations in order to reflect the feeling of Amiga demos. Then he provided all the 3D animations in the music video.

Most of the elements in the music video is highly coordinated with the music. So some flicker effects and 2D animations are handled frame by frame using a technique similar to stop-motion.

In this 1080p full HD music video, some clips used needed to be resized to 640×480 or 320×240 and resized back to 1920×1440. But video editors were destroying the authentic pixel look because of the bicubic approzimation and smoothing algorithms used for resizing the video. Because of this reason the required clips are exported as individual PNG frames and resized to 640×480 or 320×240 and back to 1920×1440 using Photoshop’s nearest neightbourhood algorithm (1 pixel equals 3 pixels). Then the resulting images are brought back together as video sequences again.

Of course this music video is on a very different style then a video that might have been produced in Amiga. My main intention was to make feel the taste of the Amiga times and share my enthusiasm both with the ones that catch and miss that era.

I hope you watch it with pleasure. Share it, like it if you do so:)

“I Miss My Amiga 500” was first released on 14 January 2013 as a bonus track in Analog Sheep’s original soundtrack album for the video game Rad Skater Apocalypse. Rad Skater Apocalypse is developed by Muzboz Games.

“I Miss My Amiga 500” Hit 1.000 Plays on SoundCloud

October 28, 2013 in Analog Sheep, Music, News

My tribute to Amiga era became my third song to hit 1.000 plays on SoundCloud.

I can call this song as the beginning of Analog Sheep project. I wanted to start my electronic music journey from my oldest inspiration which was my Amiga 500. I need to pay it back before doing anything else.

This song also helped me to create a special connection with Australian indie game developer Muzboz. At those days he was working on his first game Rad Skater Apocalypse Boom!, an arcade runner also inspired by his childhood memories of Amiga. I send him my Amiga tribute and after listening to it he asked me to make music for his game keeping Amiga in mind. I made three more tracks for Muzboz’s game. Later I published a soundtrack EP of the game and added I Miss My Amiga 500 as the bonus track. Here is the complete EP:

First Song to Hit 1.000 Plays on SoundCloud

August 19, 2013 in Album, Analog Sheep, Compositions, Game Soundtrack, Guney Ozsan, Music, News, Releases, Video Game Music

Boulevard of Electric Dreams from my electronica project Analog Sheep‘s first EP Rad Skater Apocalypse Soundtrack became the first song to hit 1.000 plays on SoundCloud.

Boulevard of Electric Dreams is an Amiga and chiptune inspired dance track with pure analog sound, progressive structure based on synth riffs oriented from rock music and melodic synth solos again based on progressive rock.

I composed the piece in 2012 for the game Rad Skater Apocalypse made by the independent game developer Muzboz from Australia. The game is an arcade runner in which a skater boy takes his synthesizer under his arm and tries to rescue the world from 8 bit zombies and aliens. The game is published on iPhone and iPad. Recently, the game became free for download and the free version is called “Rad Skater Apocalypse Boom!”.

You can download the game from itunes using this link:

Boulevard of Electric Dreams is one of the three tracks I made for Rad Skater Apocalypse. I published all the songs as an EP, including a bonus track “I Miss My Amiga 500”, a tribute to the Amiga era and another popular Analog Sheep track. Here is the complete EP:

Rad Skater Apocalypse Game is Now For Free

August 14, 2013 in Analog Sheep, Compositions, Game Soundtrack, Guney Ozsan, Music, News, Video Game Music

In 2012, I made three Amiga inspired retro pieces for the soundtrack of the game Rad Skater Apocalypse and published them under my electronic music project Analog Sheep. The game has now been released in a FREE version “Rad Skater Apocalypse Boom!”. Now it’s a universal build that works on iPad and iPhone.

You can download the game for free here: Rad Skater Apocalypse Boom! on iTunes

Rad Skater Apocalypse is the first game of independent developer Murray Lorden (Muzboz Games) from Australia. Murray has worked for 10 years in the Melbourne games industry, and has now packed his knapsack, and set off for his own indie adventures.

Check it out, if you haven’t played it already. It starts off gently, and introduces the new baddies, hazards and powers as you clock up some more point, so give it a go for a few minutes and things start to heat up. :) Once you’ve unlocked stuff, it stays unlocked, so you don’t have to sit through the quiet bit after that.

And here is the soundtrack EP that I made for Rad Skater Apocalypse. It includes all the three tracks from the game plus the bonus track “I Miss My Amiga 500“, a vintage tribute to the Amiga era.

“Misket Dance (Misket Havasi)” is an interesting Turkish folk dance with a melody appearing only in synchops. And here goes the chiptune electro swing interpretation of Misket Havasi from my electronic project Analog Sheep.

The piece is made on request for the video game for children on iOS, “Misket ile Kismet, Bir Ankara Macerasi” (Misket and Kismet, an Ankara Adventure) by Zbam Game Studio and Municipality of Ankara.

Analog Sheep Single “My Heart is Beatplosive” is Out

March 6, 2013 in Analog Sheep, Compositions, Events, Game Jam, Game Soundtrack, Guney Ozsan, Music, News, Releases, Single, Video Game Music

Original soundtrack from my electronica project Analog Sheep for the Global Game Jam 2013 game “Change of My World” by Emrah Ozer and Orcun Nisli.

Originally the music is constructed during the game by combining 1 second loops, each of which are attached to a specific move type of the character. Later I made a special arrangement and published under Analog Sheep.

“Analog Sheep” Came into the World

January 24, 2013 in Album, Compositions, Game Soundtrack, Guney Ozsan, Music, News, Releases, Video Game Music

Analog SheepMy electronic project “Analog Sheep” finally came into the world. I was working hard on this project, and from now on, I will be collecting my music full of synthesizers of vintage colors and analog character under the name Analog Sheep.

Analog Sheep is named after the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” by the American writer Philip K. Dick. The novel describes a post-apocalyptic world where it became very hard to distinguish androids from human beings. Analog Sheep is formed to ask the question: “Do Synthesizers Dream of Analog Sheep?
Do synthesizers dream of Analog Sheep?
The character design of Analog Sheep is created by Murat Kalkavan.

The soundtrack of independent video game producer Murray Lorden‘s iPad/iPhone game “Rad Skater Apocalypse” became Analog Sheep’s debut album. The 4 track soundtrack EP is full of analog modelled synths, solos and vintage feeling. Besides there is a bonus track called “I Miss My Amiga 500“, an ode to Amiga era for Amiga crazy fans.

Rad Skater Apocalypse (Game Soundtrack)

June 21, 2012 in Compositions, Game Soundtrack, Guney Ozsan, News

My second game music goes to Australia, for the mobile game “Rad Skater – Apocalypse”. This time, we try to save the world from the attack of the pixelated zombies and aliens while we collect colorful vintage casettes.

Edit (January 21, 2013): “Rad Skater Apocalypse” game soundtrack is published as a 4 track EP under my vintage electronic project “Analog Sheep“. It is full of analog modeled synths, solos, vintage dance feeling from Amiga days and positive mood. In addition to that there is a bonus track called “I Miss My Amiga 500“, an ode to Amiga for Amiga crazy fans.

The good-times soundtrack to the apocalypse!
You may as well enjoy your last moments in time with Amiga 500 inspired analog dance music.

(If you can’t see the video click here to watch it on YouTube.)

Rad Skater is produced by the indie game developer Murray Lorden from Melbourne. Murray and I met through our adoration of the Amiga, and the amazing games and music from our childhood. I sent Murray a track that I made, an ode to Amiga, which helped creating a special bond between us. Growing up in the 80’s, and through this bond, we came to work together on Rad Skater. You can find the iTunes page of the game here.

I started working on the music of Rad Skater from the atmosphere of the Amiga 500 era. The tracks rythmically carry some characteristics of the chip tune style, structurally based on rock music with lots of riffs and solos, and beyond those, they are analog dance tracks.

On January 14, 2013 I will publish the Rad Skater music and my ode to Amiga 500 as a 4 track EP under the name Analog Sheep, my project for collecting my electronic works.
